I%26#39;m going to be in Portland for a few days at the end of this week, with some free time on my hands. The Chinese, Japanese, and Rose Gardens look lovely, but are they worth visiting this time of year?
Visiting Gardens in January?
The Chinese Gardens are beautiful now too, as are the Japanese Gardens.
The Classical Chinese Gardens have more features than just flowers etc, they are authentic with all the stones and wood brought here just for this garden, they are right in town and really worth seeing any time of the year.
The Japanese Gardens are gorgeous! all year round. As are the views of Portland , Mt Hood and beyond from the Gardens.
We are having fabulous weather, bright sun, blues skies and in the 50s..all week ( they say)...so plan on the gardens :)

Thanks, Scarlett. Coming from near 0 temps in Vermont, 50s will feel nice and warm!
Your are welcome! Bring sunblock lol
Just went to the chinese garden yesterday, its beauthful in winter too.....We also went to the zoo and took a little drive around the rose garden..The rose and Japanese garden would be better in spring or summer. But all look nice in winter and summer, and are close so go ahead.
Again, the view from the Rose Garden is nice right now with the great weather we will be enjoying and have been enjoying. A little cold but you can handle it. Great place for a walk also. Check out the falls along the old hwy 30 for nature%26#39;s evergreen garden.
