Will be going to Oregon coast mid-February. Any suggestions about weather, places to stay, if the beaches are strollable, and so forth.

Above is a thread where someone is planning a visit to Cannon Beach. Perhaps it will answer some of your questions.
Have you read about Cannon Beach, or do you have any ideas of what you want? ( why are you going? )... this will help people give you some direction...you don%26#39;t mention budget or anything either..
Cannon Beach in winter
Looking to enjoy the coast on a small budget in February and wondering about weather and things to do and places to stay.
We were in Cannon Beach over President%26#39;s Day weekend in 2006, and had a couple beautiful cloudless days. More typical, though, is rain, wind, and more rain. Beaches are still ';strollable'; but you%26#39;ll be miserable if not dressed properly.
Because bad weather is a probability, you%26#39;ll want a room from which you can at least see the beach if you can%26#39;t be out walking on it. That could be difficult if you don%26#39;t have much of a budget to work with. Have a look at these places: http://www.schoonerscove.com/ and http://www.landsendmotel.com/. Both have beachfront locations in the heart of Cannon Beach, and are comparatively reasonably priced. I%26#39;ve not stayed in either, but know several who have stayed at one or the other, and returned with good reports.
If you are on a budget, I suggest that Lincoln City may be more affordable and still have a wonderful beach. The beaches in both areas are strollable. You will want a nice oceanfront room, because the weather is usually cool and breezy. in February. For Lincoln City, I suggest Pelican Shores second floor or higher for clean oceanfront rooms at a reasonable price and they even include a small continental breakfast. They are also close to the casino if that interests you.
Weather can be widely variable. I%26#39;ve seen temps in the 80%26#39;s as well as snow on the coast in February. Expect cool rain and mild winds with daytime temps in the high 40%26#39;s to low 50%26#39;s.
Most Oregon beaches are very wide, compared to, say Hawaii for example. It would only be at the highest of tides with an of-shore storm that one would not be able to walk on most beaches. That being said, PLEASE REMEMBER to stay away from logs near the surf. It only takes 4'; of water to float (and roll) at 5000 pound log, and NEVER turn you back on the ocean.

Dengay, your last paragraph is all too wise, and should be as common to postings as an email ';signature'; for everyone considering the coast. Thanks.
Everyone has already given great advice, so I won%26#39;t repeat it:)
Our favorite place to stay in Cannon Beach is the Surfsand Resort. If you can go midweek, they have rooms starting at $109 per night, which is REALLY cheap for this hotel! Only the oceanfront building is open right now as they are redoing the other buildings. We have stayed here many times and love it.
A place that mistletoe mentioned, Schooners Cove, has rooms for $99 midweek.
The Surfsand is a huge step above Schooners Cove, so if you can get a room there for the special rate, go for it. Normally the rooms at Surfsand are around $300 per night.
Both hotels are right on the water. Surfsand is a few blocks south of the downtown area, but still a very easy walk. Schooners Cove is right in the heart of downtown, but on the water.
Hi 34 Dom and welcome to the forums! We were in Seaside/Cannon Beach last February and had really nice weather, then the wind storm blew into town. We had about 90/mph winds which was interesting to be. We did not loose power but many did in town. There are many nice places to stay in Cannon Beach, it is a very upscale town with some nice art galleries, shops, etc. Haystack Rock is a major icon of the Oregon Coast, Ecola State Park is also a great place to spend time at.
You may want to pick up an issue of Oregon Coast magazine to help you with your travels, they have gorgeous photographs and lots of current information with what%26#39;s going on at the coast. Have fun! :)
Welcome to the Great Pacific Northwet!
Agree with previous posts, be prepared for rain but even in winter good weather does break out. This past week was mostly dry, lots of sun highs in lower 50%26#39;s lows in lower 30%26#39;s, not much wind. This week, ???
If you enjoy theater the local amateur Coaster Theater does a pretty credible job, they have a web site. A slightly lower cost but good restaurant in CB is Dooger%26#39;s. If you go at happy hour upstairs in the lounge they have a low cost HH menu, good stuff but do not know if that%26#39;s just weekends or weekdays as well.
If you know what it means to miss New Orleans there is a good little cerole/cajun restaurant in nearby Seaside called Lil%26#39; Bayou.
Also motels on average are less expensive in Seaside. Good thing! The beaches in Oregon are public and you can beachcomb free.
I%26#39;ll second Lil Bayou in Seaside! They make a really great Chicken Tchoupitoulas there with a great Bernaise Sauce. Bigfoot Pub %26amp; Grub was our Sunday night dinner spot when we spent several week on the coast last summer. They make some really great ribs that are served only on Sun. night. Casual place with really good food, also a nice Bruschetta there.
We enjoyed a 3 night stay at the Tides by the Sea in Seaside, it is down by Ave. U and was convenient for our surfing needs. We booked the upstairs corner room with amazing views of the ocean for $90/night. It was a 2 bedroom unit with a small kitchen that was fully stocked, they also had a very nicely heated pool where we enjoyed nightly swims. If you don%26#39;t want to walk on the sand, there is a prom in Seaside that is very ';strollable,'; the Tides is at the far end of the prom. :)
