Oxford Suites Jantzen Beach

Does anyone have any recent experiences here? Is it in a good location? We will have a car and will be doing an overnight stop from Tumwater area via Mt St Helens on the way to Crescent City the following day. Any other suggestions on good places to stay $150 max inc parking? And I do need a fridge in the room for medication. Any feed back is appreciated.

No info on Oxford Suites.

Mt. St. Helens to Crescent city is a long drive, I assume you know that. You don%26#39;t say when you are traveling, but if not winter, not a bad drive at all. You might want to take a break (if necessary) in Ashland, OR (see their website if unfamiliar with its charm).

Re: fridge - we always take a cooler, the size depending on our needs for short or longer trips, and add ice as needed. Even a Styrofoam cheapie does fine. Then don%26#39;t need to worry about fridges.

If $150.00/night is within your budget, I cannot imagine a room w/o a fridge.

No personal info on Oxford Suites. However, by selecting the tab to left ';Portland Hotels'; this information is available. I put a break in the website to ensure it appears; copy it and pull it together...

Thanks for that. I think we will probaly B%26amp;B it but was interested to hear some comments.

Interestingly in my experience of travelling with refrigerated medication it is exacltly the more expensive hotels that I have problems with. Bar fridges that are locked or auto debit your room if you so much as look at a can of beer let alone try to move it to make some space! Viva Las Vegas! Thats another forum....

We are planning to stop o/n in ??Tumwater coming from Vancouver via Whidbey Is.(any better suggestions just for a pit stop?) Next day going to Mt St Helens and o/n in ?Portland and drive from there to Crescent City the next day-Yahoo says 5hrs 30mins for this bit of the trip-is that about right? We decided to just hoon it down I-5 rather than go the coast road. Too much to see so little time! We are prepared for a long day driving to get to the Redwoods for early the next day.

This is just part of a much bigger trip I am planning for May, most of which is now sorted.

We actually start our holiday in Seattle for 2 days and then head off into Canada for 14 nights before spending 6 days driving to Yosemite for 3 days and flying out of SFO back home to Oz.

As you are in Seattle maybe you can give us yet more advice! We are staying at the Watertown. Any good restaurants in the area or things we just should not miss other than the usual tourist haunts?

All advice greatfully received.

Tumwater is fine for an overnight only, and you avoid Seattle traffic heading to Mt. St. Helens.

Your route is a very good one coming via Whidbey Island. Search for it on TA and you%26#39;ll have advice on what to see/do.

The travel times appear about right.

If you have not seen the OR coast, you might try to drive the southern part of it by cutting over at, say, Eugene or Roseburg. Then you can continue to the redwoods. If you post this in the Oregon Forum you will get great advice on how best to do this.

I%26#39;m unsure where you are from (Oz, Australia or Oz, the story?) Yosemite is beautiful, but leave the valley and see the high country/Tuolumne Meadows. IF it%26#39;s open, free of snow. If in Canada, perhaps you%26#39;ll go to Victoria on Vancouver Island; lots to see/do. Or Banff/Jasper National Parks?

So little time... understood!

BTW, the tourist haunts here are worth seeing. If you provide information on what you need/intend to see, can reply.

Whoops, this is the Oregon forum; I thought I was still in WA forum. sorry.

Oz is Australia.Sorry thats what we all call it and presumed everyone else also did! A place called Buderim on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland to be exact.

Glad to hear my plans are pretty much good. I have spent numerous hours looking every detail up but its always good to get local advice on places to stop and driving distances.

In Canada we are doing all you suggested and a bit more.

While in Seattle we will do all the tourist things but wondered about other things that only locals would know. Is the underground tour any good?Goes from a pub somewhere but can%26#39;t remember off the top of my head.

Good food is definately an interest as is good wine (and beer for hubby). Like art galleries and people watching. Unusual shops and organic/veggie food. The list goes on!

Thanks for your input Voyaging-you have been very helpful

If you have time, the Underground Tour might be worth doing, but it is a bit grubby and, to my mind, only somewhat interesting. They have a website, so...

Many taverns/pubs - where is Goodbeer when I need him. Find him on this site; he knows %26#39;em all.

Pioneer Square has several decent galleries. The new Seattle Art Museum Out Door Park has just opened. Haven%26#39;t even seen it myself, but from what I%26#39;ve driven by, and the reviews, looks good. Right on the main waterfront, north of the Seattle Aquarium. (I believe the downtown SAM is closed for expansion/renovation. The SAM in Volunteer Park has a continuing major Asian presentation plus rotating displays).

If you had the time, a nice little town is Kirkland, northeast of Seattle (which means only that you cross either floating bridge eastbound from Seattle and take I-405 north until the Kirkland exit. Go downtown toward Lake Washington. Several nice galleries and lake front park.

If into gardens, Bellevue Botanical Garden is quite nice, east side of Lake WA.

Snoqualmie Falls, further east on I-90, can be fun; higher than Niagara, but much narrower. You can walk to base of falls.

Woodinville, NE of Seattle, has some good wineries and a beer company (which name eludes me, but cannot miss it when out there). it includes a pub/food.

Etc. Gosh, wish I could drive you to all these places.

BTW, when in Banff, locate the tropical fish in a micro stream in the mountains. The park website tells where they are, on a major pathway.

PS I guessed correctly about ';Oz';; just kidding.

Redhook Brewery is the one in Woodinville. You might want to do the Boeing factory tour in Everett. Or visit the Museum of Flight, on the south end of Seattle.

Many thanks for all of that!

We have stayed at the Oxford Suites in Jantzen Beach a few times and have always enjoyed our stay; including the jacuzzi suite right next to the king sized bed! It is right off of 1-5, across from Jantzen Beach shopping and you would have fast food, a grocery store and other shopping type areas walking distance from the hotel. The room also has a small fridge and microwave. Very nice! I do not believe they charge for parking but I%26#39;m not 100% sure.
