Hello, My family grandparents, uncles, cousins, etc.. are planning a Road Trip from San Francisco all the way to Vancouver, Canada.
I would greatly appreciate if you could recommend which cities to visit or stay several days on our trip, we really do not want to drive more than 3 to 4 hours a day and we can not spend more than 2 weeks for the whole trip.
We obviously want to spend some days in San Fran and Vancouver but would like to hear suggestions for the road trip in between.
Thanks for the help.

Road Trip Advice
Does that mean you fly into SFO and out of Vanc, or do you need to return to SFO?
Suggest you drive up the coast to at least Portland then see Columbia Riv Gorge, Mt St Helens, Hurricane Ridge
Can offer more when you say more
Yes we will be flying to SF and then flying out of Vancouver. If you cand recommend what cities to spend the night or a couple of days if there is things to do and see and if there are also little towns or cities that it%26#39;s nice to stop for alunch or so we don%26#39;t mind either.
Thanks for your help.
I suggest that you study a map of CA, OR, WA. Go back to Trip Advisor and select both Attractions and Overview for the state or cities and, in OR, the coast, to see what appeals to you and to your family.
Then, work out a rough itinerary for the places that look interesting to you, and we can better respond.
Your plans are still vague, I would not know where to begin. This is not Texas. There are too many diverse things to see here, in fairly close proximity, from ocean coast, to high plains, to Columbia River Gorge, etc.
How are you traveling, by cars, vans? Sounds like a lot of you so it would help us to help you if you told us also some details about family ages, your interests, etc.
For example, if you would like to see the spectacular OR coast, you should plan a couple of days since there is so much to see.
Ages range from 15 to 80 and we will have vans or several cars. We really have all types of interest but not too active such as hiking, river rafting, etc..
Sightseeing, Museums, shopping, etc..
Since we dont know the area I needed suggestions for towns/cities to visit for a short stay or lunch break while driving or places to actually spend the night and even a couple of days if worthwhile from SF to Vancouver.
Even in larger cities like Portland I%26#39;d like to get an idea of how many days suffice and what are the recommended things to do and see.
I greatly appreciate everybody%26#39;s input.
You should post your responses on the WA TA site as well. Why leave us in the dark?
Agree with Voyaging try to narrow down which route you want take and what areas you want to see-since you wont be able to see it all-even in 2 weeks.
I%26#39;m assuming you/ve never been this way before?
Some Starting points(going somewhat S to N)-
San Francisco
Redwoods National/State Parks
Oregon Coast
Crater Lake
Columbia Gorge
Portland
Mt. St. Helens
Mt. Rainier
Olympic National Park
San Juan Islands
Seattle
Victoria, BC?
Vancouver, BC
etc, etc,
Does 3-4 hours a day mean %26#39;straight drive time%26#39; or how many hours you want to spend in a car sightseeing, etc? This will make a difference in how much you can do as well.
Since we have older aged family members we want to cut down the total driving time to no more than 5 hours a day.
If you go up I-5 through Oregon- it might not be the most scenic, but faster. Then maybe you could have a few cities as %26#39;home base%26#39; and then do day trips?
To give you an idea on travel times...It takes about 5 hours of straight driving to travel I-5 from California Border to Washington Border.
