Hello all! Any ideas where to take the family at the end of February? It%26#39;s a Birthday trip for my 7 yr old daughter so I%26#39;m looking for something kid-centered and indoors. We%26#39;ve done Seattle downtown, various beaches and Mt. Hood. Is there anything I%26#39;m missing? I%26#39;d like to stay within a 2-4 hour drive of pdx. Thanks for any ideas you may have!
Family Friendly Road Trips from Portland?
Kahneeta? The pool there is open year round, and there may be a separate pool for Lodge guests. Maybe combine that with a day of sledding/tubing/boarding/skiing on Mt. Hood?

If you head down to Sunriver, there are some great indoor family activities. They have Fort Funnigan with all sorts of programs and special events, as well as the nature center and the observatory. Just outside of Sunriver is the High Desert Museum which is absolutely amazing!!!
Hi lobbity, since you say you done beaches ( that would let out Seaside) and you live in Pdx, I guess the Zoo ( in February???) would be out lol..
Do you want to just stay for a day or do an overnight?
Feb is a hard time of year to celebrate here outdoors, isn%26#39;t it :(
The Portland Childrens Museum does birthday parties.
sorry I can%26#39;t think of anything, does she have anything that she especially loves? At that age, all I wanted was a horse :)
.
What about the Waterfront Carosel and then the A.C Gilbert Childrens Discovery Museum in Salem? I%26#39;ve never been inside the Museum, but the outside makes me want to be a kid. The play structure is amazing!
A trip up The Gorge to Bonneville Dam and Multnomah Falls might be fun. Lunch in Hood River.
Another option is to stay in Portland, do the zoo one day and head over to OMSI for the next.
Other suggestions?
Salem%26#39;s Carrousel and the Gilbert Discovery Museum area great idea. My grandkids loved it! Perfect for a 7 year old. The play structures are mostly outdoors, so try to pick a day when it%26#39;s not too wet. Have you been to O.M.S.I.--everyone enjoys that and there is something for kids of all ages.
Wildlife Safari in Winston Oregon is great in the summertime--not sure about their winter hours--check their website.
Oregon Coast Aquarium and stay overnight at one of the places with an indoor pool. We%26#39;ve only stayed in rented homes so I don%26#39;t know any of the motels too well.
