We%26#39;re flying into Portland in June. We plan on staying in Portland 2 nights and seeing the Columbia River Gorge. From there we%26#39;ll drive the coast starting in Lincoln City or Newport and spend 2 nights along the coast. Next stop is Redwood National Park and surrounding area with one night there. From there we%26#39;ll drive to Muir Woods and then San Francisco and spend 4 nights. Any recommendations at to the best sights on the Oregon Coast and the best places to stay? Did I give enought time for the Redwoods? Any other suggestions?
Portland to San Francisco
Looks like you%26#39;ve done your homework and planned your trip very well. Just stop at the turnouts and parks along the coast highway to see if there is something there that interests you.
We like D Sands Motel Condominium at Lincoln City, Tyee Lodge B%26amp;B at Newport, The Adobe Inn, Sea Quest B%26amp;B in Yachats. All these places are oceanfront.
Portland to San Francisco
Columbia River Gorge: suggest you go east along the scenic route, stopping at the falls and dams (especially Bonneville), walking, hiking, photos. At some point comfortable for you, cross the Columbia and return westbound on the WA side. See the ';Stonehenge'; and Maryhill Museum. And sights en route. Take I-205 back to Portland.
Best Sights on OR Coast: you%26#39;ll start a war with that question. Driving south, you%26#39;ll find many pullouts. See them all. More realistically, wait for Phirl or Den to reply to this post. Definitely see Yachats and surrounding pullouts at Cape Perpetua. You%26#39;ll not forget this area.
Redwoods: One night is all you will need. Muir Woods is OK, but tends to be crowded. The former should suffice.
I appreciate all your info-your have helped alot with my planning.
Thanks a bunch..
