San Francisco to Seattle

We will be making that drive in late June. Two older teenagers, have never been through Oregon before, any help with roads, adventure type stuff would be appreciated.

Thanks

My suggestions would be to take highway 101 along the Oregon coast. Go to the Oregon Dunes NRA in southern Oregon(fs.fed.us/r6/…) and rent dune buggies... it%26#39;s actually a lot of fun.

San Francisco to Seattle

Great idea from lisarsose--Definitely come up Hwy 101. The Dunes are awesome. Our family take their quads to Sandlake dunes which is a little further north, but only because the dunes around Coos Bay/Florence would add another 2 hr drive to their already 4 hrs.

Lots of places to hike along the coast, stop at the turnouts and see what interests you. Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport is good and little further north is Yaquina Head Lighthouse, where you can climb to the top.

Continue north toward Astoria--stop at Seaside--teens love Seaside! It has lots of arcades and a great beach. We were in Rehoboth Beach, DE a few years ago and it reminded us of Seaside. But instead of the Boardwalk, Seaside has the Prom, a paved walkway.

Stop in Astoria and climb the Astor Column. It has great views of the Columbia River and the Pacific and the climb is great for teens.

Also might want to visit the Maritime Musuem in Astoria. Follow Hwy 30 to Rainier, OR then cross the river to Longview/Kelso, WA where you get back on I-5 for the 2 1/2 drive to Seattle.

Seems like could be some good river rafting at that time for adventure type stuff. Check out Deschutes River, Clackamas River, Rogue RIver or McKenzie River. Lots of river guides and levels of excitement to choose from. None of these rivers are near the coast though(well except the Rogue, but they don%26#39;t have raft day trips near the coast).

If you%26#39;re looking for traditional adventure amusment stuff you might want to check out Mt. Hood Skibowl- in the summer they have ziplines, alpine slides, etc
