Touring Holiday

We are going on a driving holiday in October this year %26amp; are just trying to decide where to go.

We would like to tour around Washington %26amp; Oregon. We would start in Seattle.

Any suggestion as to what route we can take %26amp; where we should stop.

What is the weather like in October?

many thanks

FIONA,

Is there a specific reason you posted this on the Florence forum? Is Florence your ultimate destination?

October is a transition month for us. The transition is from summer to autumn, therefore the weather can vary widely from year to year, region to region. Generally, the beginning of the month consists of cool mornings (30%26#39;s F) and moderately warm afternoons (60%26#39;s- 70%26#39;s F). Later in the month we will transition to autumn storms, which can be quite fierce.

It would also be helpful to know how much time you%26#39;ve planned, FIONA. Washington and Oregon encompass a large area, so you%26#39;ll need to be selective. At a minimum for Oregon, I%26#39;d include the coast, dipping into northern California for the redwoods, Crater Lake, and the Columbia River gorge. You could do something like that in a week, but it would be a rush.

Sorry, didnt mean to post on the Florence forum.

We will fly into Seattle for a 2 week holiday %26amp; then tour Washington, Oregon %26amp; maybe a bit of California.

There will be plenty to do in two weeks- agree that the coast, Crater Lake(could be iffy as far as weather in October-depending on what time of the month you come), Columbia River Gorge and redwoods in CA would be the places to visit iif you havent been here before.

As far as routes to take- try this website- it will give you the list of scenic byways that are in Oregon
