Handicap accessible hikes near Silver Falls State Park?

Hi all! My family is planning a trip in mid June to Sunset Bay State Park (yurt-3 days) then Silver Fall State Park (cabin 4-days) and onto Tumalo State Park (yurt-2 days). We have an 11 year old mildly disabled son who can hike about 1-mile. We have a large ';baby jogger'; stroller for him. Do you recommend any hikes that we should consider or avoid when we are staying at Silver Falls? Any other advice about things to do that would work well for us is greatly appreciated. I should also add that we have 2 other children 8 and 5. We are so excited to see the beautiful Oregon landscape! Your help is much appreciated!!!

Handicap accessible hikes near Silver Falls State Park?

Silver Falls SP would be a great place to go as it has quite a few amenities that would support your accessiblity requirements. It is one of my favorite places.

I would recomend the South Falls Lodge area- it has paved trails-even down to the South Falls. South Falls Lodge is the main area of the park so it should be ADA accessable. It also has a playground area and %26#39;swimming%26#39; in the creek if you really want to swim in June! I believe that most of the bike trails are paved as well(if bike trails aren%26#39;t paved they are well maintained and at least wide enough to accomidate a stroller) .

These falls are easily walkable from the road- South Falls, North Falls, Upper North Falls and Winter Falls.

North and Winter Falls are the two most accessible but all the trails are accessible at some level. Check www.oregonstateparks.org for more specific infromation.

Not a hike per se but you could try the Oregon Gardens in Silverton.

North Falls is pretty level all the way to the waterfall and it not a long walk. We%26#39;ve taken the kids on the South Falls hike when they were the typical stroller age but it is very steep no matter how you go - great workout for the person pushing the stroller. There is a play ground near the parking lot for South Falls and large grassy area for a picnic right near the creek. Beautiful area for anyone to experience.
