I usually plan everything we do
very carefully, but am thinking about
not making any reservations for my
husband and self when we visit the
coast in late April during the week.
Do you think we would have a problem
finding places to stay at that time of
the year on the coast? What about
in Portland where we will fly in and out
of?
Reservations needed?
we pretty much make reservations any time we go to the coast, whatever time of year. With all the stuff available on line can see a lot about many of the places. Not like years past when you needed to check out a room in person.
We went to Manzanita in Nov, by calling in advance my wife made sure we had ocean front room. However thurs night parking lot about half full, Fri night it was pretty full.
I doubt you will have a problem finding a room in midweek in April.
Are you planning to move, probably good idea if you plan to see coast from Lincoln CIty to North Bend.
You also might consider taking OR-6 to coast and driving three capes road.
Reservations needed?
Definitely make reservations! That time frame is spring break for some schools (quite a few in WA even though ours is in March), so places on the coast will fill up. If you know where you want to stay, I would make reservations now.
I would definitely make ressies for the coast asap. Where are you staying on the coast? In Portland, we like the Riverplace Hotel and the Heathman in the downtown area. Check the hotel websites for rates and packages. If you book through the POVA website the rooms will come with complimentary parking and breakfast which is nice. Happy New Year! :)
Yes, another vote for reservations.
We went out to the Coast after the summer, when it was already chilly and wet and we still had a hard time finding what we wanted.
April will most likely be chilly and wet too so I will suggest the Inn@Arch Cape which is just South of Cannon Beach, if you are looking for recommendations. They have fireplaces so they are perfect in cooler weather..
Yes, the city is full of great hotels and they are all pretty busy all the time.
5th Avenue Suites
Westin
Lucia
Hotel Vintage Plaza
Inn@Northrup Station
as well as the old timers hotels, Heathman and Governor.
I would not recommend Riverplace.
The Portland airport is within a 20-30 minute drive from downtown/the Pearl.
As far as staying in Portland, yes the POVA website has the special with parking and breakfast. But don%26#39;t forget to call whichever hotel you decide on and speak to them directly. We have gotten better rates, including what the parking and breakfast costs, calling directly instead of opting for the package.
Even though we live here, we have stayed at the 5th Avenue Suites several times and really like it. We will be staying there again in a couple weeks and look forward to it.
We all have lots of opinions here, lol, so if you need more info just ask and I am sure you will get some lively answers:)
Thanks so much. You are all so helpful.
I didn%26#39;t even think about it being spring break for
WA. Our spring break is in March.
No, we%26#39;re not moving to Oregon, we are just
celebrating our anniversary.
A trip with no kids! Yippee!
I meant were you moving during your week here, like Newport 3 nights Florence 2 nights.
Our son has his boys in school at Yelm WA. their spring break first week in April. Not sure but think other WA schools the same. Late April should be ok, but I still think reservations good idea.
phirl--When we lived just north of Seattle, our kids break was the 3rd week of April.
Mtngrl
Guess state of Wash has different spring breaks. Yelm no longer has a week off in Febr. just two days.
Phirl-
Sorry for being so dense! Yes, we will be moving around some.
Don%26#39;t know what I was thinking, guess I should not reply so late
in the evening.
Thanks for your help. I will be making some reservations.
