Oregon Coast Aquarium in Winter

We just had a great trip to the coast to see the aquarium today. The weather was typical Oregon Coast weather. We had winds blowing at about 30 mph or so, rain, hail and even sleet mixed with beautiful sunshine. The aquarium was too cool. All of the people working there are friendly and helpful. One of the docents spent about 30 minutes with my husband telling him about abalone and other sticky wonders of the sea. The kids got up close and personal with anemone, urchins, cucumbers and sea stars. They especially loved seeing the sea otters and seals, very cute. They had a ';Claws'; exhibit with those delicious crustaceans, crabs, lobsters and shrimp. I%26#39;ve been to bigger aquariums like Monterey bay and Maui Ocean Center but this one is worth every penny for admission and its just such a friendly place. We tried to get there at opening but were a half hour late and there were 6 cars in the parking lot. When we left 2 hours later, the lot was full. So, get here early for the best views and one-on-one time with the docents.

Nice report Julauf. We still have two grandkids left to take there. I sure agree they have done wonderful job. Many of those people are volunteers I think

Glad you enjoyed the aquarium, we were there this summer with my daughter and she brought a friend from Salem, it was his first time to see the aquarium. Our docents were also very nice, taking time to chat personally with us, they love what they do! Happy New Year! :)

Glad you enjoyed it:) I haven%26#39;t been in a year or two, but have been so many times while growing up. It is nice to have so many great things so close to us.
