Evergreen Air Museum

I know this has been discussed before, but thought I would again.

Yesterday we went to Evergreen with son and family. Son active Air Force 23 years. They have lived in base housing for 5 years until recently. so pretty aware of Air Force things. They really enjoyed the day. I had not realized how much it was oriented to military flying.

Recommend it to all with any interest in planes. we went to Air Force museum on Offutt AFB near Omaha. they had a lot of planes, but interp was poor, and can not remember how many Navy planes were at Offutt. Evergreen has done great job of interp and restoration of planes. Most of them could still fly

Got a kick out of our guide. Suppose this is routine in all, but he said have you flown commercially to group. Think all had. He said remember the smooth gentle landings, those were Air Force pilots, remember the bounce landings those were Navy pilots.

I am recently bakcin contact with several fraternity brothers from our OSC class , two of them were navy pilots. One went on to be commercial pilot. had to send that tidbit to them and the others from our class

Thanks for the info, phil! We have not been to the Evergreen Museum, but did enjoy the Tillamook Air Museum very much. We%26#39;ll have to check it out next visit to the wine country. Happy New Year! :)

I, too, had to share your posting with a couple of retired Navy pilots (later, the big commercial birds). Very funny!

LOL Phirl:) My brother was a Navy pilot...all those carrier landings. Hey, wait a minute...our friend (Navy pilot) was the pilot for the latest shuttle mission...I would bet his landing was smooth:) His launch was pretty incredible (we got to go)!

Yes, the Evergreen Museum is really nice. Have you been to the Museum of Flight when you are in WA visiting? Very good museum!
